REPORT OF THE NORTH WEST CHAPTER TO THE 38TH ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING HELD AT SHERATON HOTEL IKEJA – LAGOS ON MONDAY 13TH OCTOBER, 2014

Chapter Monthly Congress Meeting

The chapter’s monthly meeting rotated among the tertiary institutions in Kano (Bayero University, Kano, Kano University of Science and Technology, Federal College of Agricultural Products Technology and Northwest University) in the year 2014. The chapter held a joint congress meeting with professionals/licentiates and students.

Membership Derive

As part of the efforts of the leadership of the chapter to bring the awareness of NIFST to the door step of the teaming population of the people of Northwest, a number of potential members, professionals/licentiates and students have registered their membership with national secretariat.

Kano ‘2014 Conference and AGM Hosting Rite

Following the resolutions of the 37th Annual General Meeting (AGM) ABUJA ‘2013, the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) Chaired by Prof Hafiz Abubakar, held its inaugural meeting on Saturday 16th November, 2014 in preparation for the task ahead for the task ahead.

The local organizing committee (loc) of Kano ‘2014 had the following sub-committees:

  1. Finance Committee.
  2. Welfare Committee.
  3. Publicity Committee.
  4. Transport/Logistic/Exhibition Committee.
  5. Accommodation Committee.
  6. Students Affairs Committee.
  7. Editorial Committee.

 

Terms of reference

  1. Finance Committee.
    1. To source for Funds.
    2. To ensure proper documentations of all expenses.
    3. Any other assignment assign by the main committee.
  2. Welfare Committee.
    1. Arrange for meals for all Participants.
    2. Any other assignment assign by the main committee.

 

  1. Publicity.
    1. To publicise to members and non members about the Conference through Oral, Print and Electronic Media.
    2. Any other assignment assign by the main committee.
  2. Transport/Logistic/Exhibition Committee.
    1. To vook and ensure proper arrangements of all the Halls where activities will hold.
    2. To arrange for Technical session and Exhibition.
    3. To handle all transportation of Participants.
    4. Any other assignment assign by the main committee.
  3. Accommodation Committee.
    1. Arrange accommodations for council members, Fellows Invited Guests and all Conference participants.
    2. Any other assignment assign by the main committee.

The LOC proposes to honour the executive governor of Kano State (Dr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso), Aliko Dangote and other dignitaries suggested by the EXCO. The LOC also proposed to have a tour around some developmental projects around Kano, e.g. first lady’s school, institute of fisheries, Amana city and Kwankwasiyya city.

 

The LOC of Kano 2014 Conference as at April, 2014, made the first announcement flier ready and sent a copy to the secretariat for the perusal and input of the executive council,

Furthermore, the LOC planned a courtesy visit of the President of NIFST to His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kano State, Dr. (Engr.) Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, the Vice Chancellors of Bayero University, Kano (BUK) and Kano University of Science and Technology, Wudil (KUST), respectively. The LOC came up with a proposed budget presented here:

As the Almighty God may have it, this Kano 2014 conference could not materialize for the obvious reason given by council members (insecurity in the Nation).

Northwest chapter received   the sum of N20,000 naira only from the council during the 173rd council meeting for, the successful disbursement of TETFUND journals meant for Northwest chapter.
