A high powered delegation from the Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology led by the NIFST President, Prof. Maduebibisi Iwe, today Thursday, 11th February, 2021paid a courtesy visit to the Honorable Minister of Science and Technology, His Excellency, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu at the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology, FCT Abuja.
The NIFST Team visit to the Honorable Minister was to seek for more concerted efforts with the Supervising Ministry so as to chart a new course for the Institute especially now that we are chartered. Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu tasked the visiting NIFST Team to continue to maintain the high standard and ensure food safety while establishing the fact the NIFST is very critical to the nation’s economy. In the NIFST President Team were: National Secretary, Dr. Stephen Fagbemi; National Treasurer, Prof. Mrs. Olayinka Karim; Registrar-NCFST, Mrs. Vera Eze and an Exco member of the NIFST FCT Abuja Chapter, Dr. Promise Ogbonna.
At the just concluded South- South Rice Value Chain Stakeholders Forum organised by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD), held between 19th- 20th November, 2020 at the Federal Secretariat Conference Hall, Calabar, Cross River, NIFST South- East Chapter was well represented. In attendance at the event was a Past NIFST President and an International Rice Consultant, Dr. Chijioke Osuji; NIFST South East Chapter Chairman, Mr. Obinna Anyanwu and many other NIFSTers. It’s obvious that NIFST is a force to reckon with on Food Value Chain????
