A retiring professor of Food Science and Engineering and pioneer Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Professor Isaac Adebayo Adeyemi, has suggested the reintroduction of tripartite meeting involving the Vice-Chancellor and the Education Commissioners of Osun and Oyo States if the Institution would overcome the crises bedeviling

Delivering the 2nd Valedictory Lecture of LAUTECH at the Main Campus, in Ogbomoso, on Thursday, he observed the meeting among other things would sustain mutual confidence between owner states because the avenue could be used to iron out thorny issues with membership reporting to their principals as a way of entrenching unity of purpose.

Calling on all stakeholders in the LAUTECH project to take a retroactive look at the institution with a view to coming up with strategic plans at rebuilding its structures, he submitted that the University needed to come up with principles and applications that would restore confidence in the town and gown relationship.

Professor Adeyemi, the immediate past Vice-Chancellor at The Bells University of Technology, Otta, Ogun State, and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Polytechnic, Ibadan, observed the need for unbroken synergy between government, parents, lecturers and non teaching staff as well as students in promoting greater understanding of the vision and mission of whatever institution as a way of owning the educational sector of the country.

Looking back at his experiences in more than two citadels of learning, he said, ”LAUTECH may have had its fair share of crisis, but the University has maintained its leadership among its peers. If you ask me, the future is brighter and I have strong hope and belief that we shall overcome”.

In his remarks at the occasion, Vice-Chancellor of LAUTECH, Professor Adeniyi Gbadegesin, thanked the retiring don for his immeasurable contributions to the University, assuring him that posterity is on his side whenever the history of the institution would be written.
