The Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology (NIFST) is the sole registered non-profit organization representing food professionals across academia, industry, government, and research institutes in Nigeria. Committed to our vision of providing abundant wholesome food for all, our members uphold the mission to advance food science, ensuring food security and the well-being of Nigerians.
In response to recent concerns about food fraud and adulteration, NIFST emphasizes that products from our esteemed corporate members adhere strictly to approved government regulations, employing Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Hygiene Practices (GHP). None of our members, both individual and corporate, have been implicated in such activities.
Despite challenges in the industry, particularly the counterfeiting of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, NIFST remains dedicated to combating these issues. We actively engage in advocacy visits to markets, raising awareness about the dangers of consuming unwholesome foods and drinks, addressing public health concerns, and safeguarding the economic growth of the nation.
NIFST reaffirms its commitment to supporting government agencies in the ongoing fight against unwholesome practices.
Our Institute categorically disapproves of all fake or adulterated products and fully supports the fight against the same by relevant Government regulatory bodies. We look forward to the immediate arrest and successful prosecution of those involved in these nefarious acts to serve as a deterrent.

This feels good…. Thank you
You are welcome, ma.
You are welcome.
Good initiative. The Government Agencies saddled with the responsibility of checking these criminals should encourage whistle blowing of food fraud perpetuators by publicizing various channels of reporting them promptly
Absolutely! It’s a great idea to encourage whistleblowing to help stop these criminals and protect consumers.
Your valid contribution is much appreciated ma.
I strongly support the idea of whistle-blowing for Food-fraud. The public however needs to know the government Agencies to communicate with. Let’s work on that first.
I agree with you, ma.
Thank you for the valid contribution, ma.
Good morning and Happy New year 2024. What’s our major plan for thus New year.
A lot of adulterated and fake drinks in circulation.
We need to join force with the government regulatory agencies and combat this.
Very good move
This is a good initiative from NIFST.
We should keep exploring opportunities that would increase awareness on the existence and role of our institute.
In no distant future, Nigerians will fully recognise NIFST as the Go-To organisation for timely food related insights.
