In a bid to reduce the suffering of widows, a non-governmental organisation, the Rock of Ages Empowerment Foundation, is set to empower 2,000 widows through agricultural programmes, and has called on the Federal Government to support the gesture by providing land to enable the widows engage in agricultural activities and become economically independent.
The NGO’s gesture is in line with the Federal Government’s agenda of diversifying the economy and promoting agriculture for self-reliance and sustainability.
Founder of the foundation, Evangelist Ignatius Newman Ezeigbo, made the call in Abuja during the organisation’s Christmas celebration programme for over 2,000 widows in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and its environs.
He said the foundation, under its “Vegetable for Life” programme, has procured lands in Gwagwalada and Karshi areas of the FCT for onward distribution to the widows.
