The Chairman of NIFST Western Chapter led a team of representatives of the Executive Committee and Fellows on a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor of University of Ibadan, Prof. Kayode Adebowale, mni in his office on Friday 25th March, 2022. The visit was to appreciate the Vice Chancellor for the approval granted for the University of Ibadan to host the 8th Regional Food Science and Technology Summit (ReFoSTS) slated for 5-8th June, 2022.
The team was warmly received by Prof. K. Adebowale . He had fond memories of his membership of NIFST and promised to re-activate his participation within the constraints of his current responsibilities as Vice Chancellor.
He pledged to support the forthcoming ReFoSTS tagged “Oluyole 2022” to be hosted at the University of Ibadan. He expressed the need to mobilize Industry participation in NIFST activities. There were exchange of gifts between the Chapter and the University. The VC was presented with two current issues of Food Forum Magazine, Nigerian Food Journal (NIFOJ) Vol. 38 Issue 1 and 2, a copy of the gazette of Nigeria Council of Food Science and Technology and Food Products developed and packaged in the Department of Food Technology, University of Ibadan.
In the team of the Chapter Chairman, Dr. Ganiyat Olatunde, were; the Head of Department of Food Technology and former Chapter Chairman, Prof. Abiodun Olapade; Vice Chairman, NIFST Body of Fellows, Prof. Charles Akanbi; Prof. Bolanle Akinwande (FNIFST); Prof. Bolanle Otegbayo (FNIFST); former Zonal Coordinator, Oyo-Osun, Prof. Subuola Fasoyiro; Chapter Secretary, Dr. M. O. Oyelakin, Chapter Treasurer, Dr. Afolashade Adeboyejo, and Chapter Welfare Officer, Dr. Abiodun Adeola.
