Buhari signs NCFST into law

Buhari signs NCFST into law on 16th October, 2019 (World Food Day)

The Nigerian Council for Food Science & Technology Establishment has been signed into law.

This means that the hitherto Nigerian Institute of Food Science & Technology, operating as a non profit umbrella body for the knowledge and practice of Food Science and Technology in Nigeria is now a Chartered Institution under the Federal Ministry of Science & Technology as Nigerian Council for Food Science & Technology Establishments (NCFST).

This development envelopes a ray of hope for ethical practice in food processing, production, distribution, food safety and street food industry in Nigeria. Now the hitherto NIFST has legal mandate to perform her core responsibility of defining and upholding professional standards of competence, integrity and ethical behaviour among practitioners in line with best global practice; and ensure that the critical control areas of our food supply chains are handled by professionals in the food Industry.

Many thanks to President Muhammadu Buhari for crowning this Journey of 25 years pursuit to the benefit of Nigerians.

Congrats to all NIFSTers
